Back to School!

Here they all are, ready for the first day of school. Summer has flown by, but they are ready to get back into it again, sports, friends, homework (okay, maybe not homework!). Brandon is now 16 and in the 10th grade. He is playing football right now on both varsity and jv teams. Brittany is 13 and in the 8th grade. She is playing field hockey. Lucy is 10 and in 5th grade. She is still doing gymnastics. Glen is going to be eight soon and is in the 2nd grade. He plays piano and loves to ride his bike!

Look, no training wheels!

I took Glen's training wheels off today and he hoped on his bike and took off! I held onto the seat for a minute until he got his balance, but that was it! Now he and Lucy have been racing down the driveway. Glen was very excited!

Brandon is 16!!

I can't believe my baby is already 16. He plays football, and basketball and loves to watch his favorite teams on TV. He is fans of the Celtics, Red Soxs and New England Patriots. He likes to jet ski, water ski, snowmobile, play video games, and hang with his friends. For his birthday he got some money, a Patriots t shirt, some candy. From Mom and Dad he got a laptop, which he was totally surprised about. Brittany could not believe it!! She has been asking for a laptop for about 2 years now. It was priceless to see her expression as she figured out what Brandon was opening. He has been playing on it most of the afternoon. His Uncle Willie took him to the local coin shop today and purchased the coins that were made in his year of birth including the silver dollar. He was very excited to show me the beginnings of his collection when he got home. He is a very good boy, has a huge heart, and is just about the most helpful teenager you can find. His coaches love him because he is such a hard worker. Yes, I am bragging here and I may be just a little biased. But that is one of the rights of being a Mom!!

Priceless!!! One of the reasons we wanted to get Brandon this laptop was to be able to witness Brittany's reaction to it. She did not disappoint us!!

Guerrette Benefit

In May, my brother-in-law, Willie and his daughter Nikki were brutally attacked in their home in the middle of the night. They both sustained incredible head injuries and were the in the hospital for a long time. Willie spent 4 weeks in ICU and then 2 more weeks in hospital before being able to come home. Nikki spent a few days in ICU and then about 2 weeks in the hospital before she was able to come home. Since, she has been back in the hospital with a head surgery. Willie has upcoming surgeries as well. We are so happy that they are both on the road to recovery, but it will be a long road of therapies and just getting over this awful thing that happened to them. Some friends of the family put on this incredible benefit to help with medical expenses not covered by insurance. We had abut 1200 people gather at the local high school to be entertained for the evening with Bob Marley, who is a great Maine comedian, and a local band. It was a huge success and people were so generous. People continue to be generous too. It is wonderful. We are so thankful for the thoughts and prayers on Willie and Nikki's behalf. I know this has sustained them during this terrible time. We are so happy they are doing so well and continue to improve every day.
